Albumania
Here's a website where you can find a totally unique kind of present. At Albumania you design your own photo album, box file, guest book, address book or diary. You just download a photograph (digitally), choose the colour of binding and ribbon, all online and then you can see exactly what the cover of your book will look like. While you're ordering you have the option of adding extra pages and adding a ribbon tied card with your personal message. All the books are gift boxed and take about two weeks.
Alexandra Bee
For a baby bag that's a cross between just that and a chic tote/handbag (and an investment at the same time) take a look here at a range of bags handmade in Italy which definitely have that designer feel. There's plenty of room and pockets inside and each bag is available in a choice of leathers and prints. Expect to spend around £200 and buy something that's made to last.
Aspen and Brown
On their pale blue, prettily designed website, Aspen & Brown offer a lovely range of gifts. In the Christening section there are lots of very reasonably priced ideas, from personalised blankets, baby shoes and silver bangles to charm bracelets, hand painted initial canvases and named pictures. My advice would be to stay with the personalised items and the silver as there’s a great choice and these are definitely the most special and unique. Call them for overseas delivery availability.
Babes with Babies - Gifts for Mums and Babies - Pampering Gift Sets

Baby Online
There are so many websites out there offering just about everything for mother and child that it's really refreshing to find a clever idea that every new parent will want to use. At Baby-Online you create your own website for your baby, choose your design and then keep your site updated with pictures, video clips and journal entries so all your friends and family can keep in touch and up to date wherever they are in the world. A great deal of thought and attention has gone into producing this concept and not only will you want to use it yourself but it would make a wonderful gift as well.

For Goodness Cake
The next time you're considering sending flowers to someone as a thank-you gift have a look at this website and you may well be pursuaded to send something entirely different. The Classic Box from For Goodness Cake arrives brimming with dainty fairy cakes, prettily packaged in a high quality, pale blue box and tied with fuchsia ribbon. They're freshly baked so you need to eat them quickly, but having received one myself, recently, I can assure you that that won't be a problem. There are ideas for children and weddings plus seasonal suggestions as well.
Freya Design
If you're looking for a gorgeous gift for a small person, or just want to start your children off on the tidy trail early, then take a look here at these pretty hand-painted toy and keepsake boxes for boys and girls. You can also add cheese, wine, teddies and champagne to your selected basket.
Happy Bags
If you've just had a baby or you know someone who has it would be well worth your while taking a look at this website from a retailer specialising in baby bags. The kind of bag that holds all the paraphernalia you need if you go out, with multiple compartments to keep everything separate, that you can use as a shoulder bag if you want or attach to your high tech buggy. There are lots to choose from the Million Dollar Baby Bag (extremely expensive) to the excellent Skip Hop bag which comes in lots of colours.

So: This bag not only looks good and comes in canvas, print and leather versions but it also works hard as the perfect baby bag with three detachable interior compartments, long zip pulls, bottle holder and loads of other special details.
Jane Packer
Here are the most beautifully presented, modern flowers to send as a gift or if you want to give yourself a treat, to yourself. The range in her stores is much larger than what's offered online, but here you'll find roses, hyacinths, pink parrot tulips, orchids and mixed bouquets all presented in her unique, chic style. You can buy Jane Packer's books, fragranced bath and body gifts, champagne and chocolates and gift vouchers here as well.
Jo Malone
Virtually anything from Jo Malone’s wonderfully luxurious collection of pampering treats will make a lovely gift, from her Lime Basil and Mandarin Cologne to her Amber and Lavender shampoo and conditioner. This type of gift giving is not just about the products, it’s about the whole atmosphere of relaxation and luxury they create and as the packaging is gorgeous too you need do no more than place your order and have it sent out for you (or better still, of course, deliver it yourself).
Little Folk
It was difficult to know where to put this website as these are really gifts for children but as just about everything in the kids’ section would make a great present and they have some lovely, well priced t-shirts, I thought I’d drop them in here. These are lovely, personalised t-shirts, aged from 3 – 14, with the Little Folk (Twirl the Little Ballerina, Fizzly the Little Fairy and Squirt the Little Elepant as just a few) plus the alphabet letter and name of your choice. There are also personalised bags, bedding, place settings and pictures.
Lula Sapphire
Lula Sapphire offers a wide range of products and appears again below in the Organic baby products section, as most of its range is environmentally friendly. It’s here as well for its excellent collection of changing bags (many of which don’t look like changing bags at all) so if you want something really chic invest in the wonderful, modern StorkSak Gigi, which’ll hold everything for the baby plus your laptop too.
MumStuff
Soon To Be Mum and New Mum are two of the categories here, where any mum-to-be or new mum can shop for everything from baby shower partywear, changing bags, bath soaks and feeding chairs. This is not the place to find your cut-price basics, but a well thought out collection of essential items brought together by other mums - in other words; those in the know.
Natural Magic
Unlike almost all conventional candles (which contain paraffin wax and synthetic oils), Natural Magic candles are made from clean, pure vegetable wax, scented with the best quality organic aromatherapy oils. They're also twice the size of the average candle (1kg) with 3 wicks and up to 75 hours of burn time. Each candle has a specific theraputic task, such as uplifting, inspiring, soothing and de-stressing and all are beautifully packaged and perfect for treats and gifts.
Passionleaf
If you’d like to give fruit as a gift but don’t really want to send the same as everyone else take a look here. Just to look at this website will make your mouth water. You can also add balloons and chocolate strawberries to your gift. Call to order.

If you’re not quite sure what you’re doing when you reach this website read the ‘Shower my Baby Quick Tip Guide, which’ll help send you on your way, then you can choose from one of their complete (reasonably priced) packs, their pretty gifts such as personalised plates and keepsake tins and themed party stationery. There’s an ethnic baby range here as well.
Snowflake Showers
The aim of Snowflake Showers is to provide you with complete no-fuss baby shower kits that look like they took months to plan and because the same group of mums and mums to be often attend each other's showers, Snowflake Showers provide small twists and tweaks that make each event slightly different. What you receive when you send for one of their kits (based on a party of ten but you can add on extra people in fives) is a Rule Book (just in case you don’t know it all already), hand-made invites and thank you cards, balloons, confetti, table accessories, games and favours.
Space NK - Beauty Gifts for New Mothers
Nars, Stila, Darphin, Laura Mercier, Eve Lom, Diptyque, Frederic Fekkai and Dr Sebagh are just some of the 60 plus brands offered on the website of this retailer, famous for bringing unusual and hard to find products to the UK (so you don't have to go to New York any more to buy your Frederic Fekkai shampoo: Shame).
They're also an excellent place for gifts as they offer a personalised message and gift wrapping service and next day delivery if you need it. It's a well designed and easy to get round website with very clear pictures.

StorkSak
I have to confess that if I was going the baby route again (which I most certainly am not), this would probably be my first port of call as StorkSak create wonderful ‘baby’ bags which look like nothing of the sort – in black quality nylon with leather straps and excellent fittings, although if you’re not like me an addicted to black you can have your bag in rose, sky or modern print as well. Shapes are tote, classic shoulder shaped, smart weekend or modern slouch and they offer all the accessories you need too.
The Day That
There are so many wonderful gifts you can choose as a memento of a baby’s birth, most of which fit into a specific category such as flowers, hampers or silver. Here’s something totally different and very unusual which I personally think is a lovely idea: Each day since mid-summer’s day 2005, landscape photographer Gavan Goulder has taken stunning photographs of the Cornish coastline, so you can buy a beautifully framed photograph to mark the day of your (or a friend’s) baby’s birth. Take a look and see.
The Shower Shop
This is an excellent website if you’re considering having a baby shower, as not only can you find out everything you need to know about them in a delightfully simple and friendly way, you can also find a Planning Checklist, recipes for scones (afternoon tea, of course), The Ultimate Cheese Fondue and canapés (for an evening shower) and buy all the essentials such as invitations and tablewear making this a really good, well priced, one stop destination.
The White Company
The White Company is one place I immediately turn to for gifts for friends who’ve just had a baby and for babies as well. It’s a collection that just seems to get better all the time with beautiful photography, reasonable prices and excellent service combining to make you want to buy much more than you set out to. Take a look at their supersoft towelling robes and pretty toiletry sets or luxurious cushions and throws and you definitely won’t go wrong. For babies there are cashmere shawls, satin edged polar fleece blankets and pretty gift sets in different prints plus lots of other ideas.
Virginia Hayward
Established in 1984, Virginia Hayward offers a beautifully presented traditional range of gifts & hampers which would be perfect for new mothers. There’s a wide choice of food and wine related gifts plus pampering gifts which you can send for mothers and babies. You can choose from a named or standard delivery and they'll deliver to BFPO addresses
Wine Dancer
You can, of course, just walk into your local wine merchant and buy your bottle of bubbly then and there. Or you could do something a bit different and send a bottle of Veuve Clicquot in its very own ice bucket with your personalized card, or a boxed mini bottle of Laurent Perrier with a candle and bath essence. Alternatively you can arrange to have a personalized label created for a gift containing two or three bottles.
